President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the tenure of NTA Network News Director-General Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos and NAN Managing Director Ali Mohammed Ali for another three years. The President approved the renewals in Abuja, with their second terms starting on October 20, 2026. The decision aims to strengthen Nigeria’s media institutions and support the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tinubu Renews NTA and NAN Leadership
President Tinubu first appointed Dembos and Ali to lead the NTA and NAN on October 20, 2023.
Their renewed tenure will therefore run from October 20, 2026, for another three years.
The President urged both executives to justify his confidence through stronger leadership and commitment.
He also asked them to advance the mandates of their respective organizations.
Abdulhamid Salihu Dembos’ Career at NTA
Dembos hails from Yola, Adamawa State, and has spent decades in broadcasting.
He previously served as National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU).
He also served as NTA Executive Director of Marketing after retiring in 2017.
Dembos joined the NTA as an announcer at its Kaduna station in 1989.
He started there after completing his National Youth Service Corps programme.
Over the years, he rose through several leadership positions within the organization.
He served as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano.
He later became Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre.
Ali Mohammed Ali’s Media Experience
Ali Mohammed Ali brings more than 30 years of journalism and media management experience.
He has maintained a strong interest in media development and digital content.
His work focuses on meeting the information needs of Nigeria’s diverse population.
Ali holds a first degree in English from Bayero University, Kano.
He also earned a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Additionally, he holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communications from Bayero University, Kano.
Tinubu Sets Expectations for Media Executives
President Tinubu expects both executives to build on their achievements during their first term.
He urged them to remain committed to their organizations mandates.
Furthermore, he called for continued support for the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The President’s directive also highlights the importance of effective public communication.
Meanwhile, the renewed appointments give both executives another opportunity to strengthen Nigeria’s public media institutions.
