WARSAW, Poland – Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed confidence ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly against Poland on Wednesday at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw. The match will see Nigeria continue preparations for future competitions, with Chelle leading a squad of 18 players currently in camp. The Franco-Malian coach spoke on Tuesday after the team’s first training session in the Polish capital, stressing the importance of maintaining a winning mentality despite several key absences.

Ndidi Arrives as Eagles Continue Preparations

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has joined the squad in Warsaw ahead of Wednesday’s friendly against Poland.

Ndidi, alongside Moses Simon and Akor Adams, missed Nigeria’s Unity Cup triumph in London. However, all three players are now available for selection.

The team arrived in Poland on Monday and held its first training session under light rain at Stadion Polonii Warsaw.

According to team media officer Promise Efoghe, 18 players reported to camp. However, only 16 players participated in the opening training session.

Chelle Targets Another Victory

Fresh from guiding Nigeria to retain the Unity Cup in London, Chelle remains focused on extending the team’s winning run.

“We are building a culture of winning in this team, and that mentality is important,” Chelle said.

He acknowledged that the timing of the international window presents challenges.

“Some players have been in holiday mode for about two weeks. Nevertheless, the job must be done,” he added.

The coach also stressed that every player must contribute.

“We have 18 players in camp and will work with that. Everyone must work hard, and we will approach the match determined to win.”

Key Players Missing for Poland Clash

Nigeria will face Poland without several notable stars.

African Player of the Year winners Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman are unavailable for the friendlies.

In addition, midfielder Alhassan Yusuf and winger Samuel Chukwueze will miss the game. Chukwueze recently buried his mother in Imo State.

Despite these absences, Chelle remains optimistic about the team’s chances.

Portugal Awaits After Poland Test
