Tinubu Begins Three-Week European Vacation Ahead of 2027 Election Campaign

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will leave Abuja today, August 30, 2026, for Europe on a three-week annual vacation. The President will begin his working vacation in London, United Kingdom, before returning to Nigeria for official duties and the January 2027 election campaign. His trip comes as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu Heads to Europe for Annual Vacation

The Presidency said the three-week trip forms part of President Tinubu’s annual leave.

According to the statement, London will serve as his first destination in Europe.

However, the Presidency did not disclose further details about his itinerary.

President Tinubu will spend the vacation period in Europe before returning to Nigeria.

President Tinubu to Join 2027 Election Campaign

The President is expected to resume his official duties after completing the three-week working vacation.

He is also expected to participate actively in campaign activities ahead of the January 2027 election.

Political parties have already begun strengthening their structures ahead of the polls.

As the election approaches, campaign activities are expected to increase across the country.

President Tinubu’s return will therefore coincide with a crucial period in the 2027 election cycle.

Presidency Confirms Tinubu’s Travel Plans

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclosed the development.

Onanuga signed the statement dated August 30, 2026.

The statement confirmed that President Tinubu would depart Abuja for Europe on Sunday.

It also stated that he would return home after the working vacation.

The President will then join the hectic campaign activities ahead of the January 2027 election.

Political Parties Intensify 2027 Preparations

Meanwhile, political parties and their candidates continue preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The parties are expected to intensify consultations, mobilisation and campaign strategies.

Consequently, the coming months could witness increased political activities across Nigeria.

President Tinubu’s planned return will place him at the centre of these activities.

The Presidency has, however, provided no additional information about his European itinerary.
