Tinubu to Unveil Buhari Memorial Book at Buhari’s First Anniversary Memorial

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will unveil a commemorative book honouring former President Muhammadu Buhari during a memorial programme on July 13, 2026, in Abuja. The event, announced on Wednesday by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Boss Mustapha, will bring together Buhari’s family, associates, government officials, religious leaders, and admirers. The programme will commemorate the first anniversary of Buhari’s death through interfaith prayers, tributes, and reflections on his leadership, while promoting national unity and faith.

Interfaith Prayers to Promote National Unity

Mustapha said the memorial programme will centre on interfaith and interdenominational prayers. Religious leaders from different faiths will lead prayers for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul.

He explained that the ceremony aims to honour the late president while encouraging national reflection, unity, and peaceful coexistence.

According to him, family members, friends, former colleagues, government officials, and well-wishers will gather to celebrate Buhari’s life and public service.

Close Associates to Reflect on Buhari’s Legacy

Mustapha disclosed that selected individuals who worked closely with Buhari would share personal experiences during the event.

He said their remarks would highlight the former president’s commitment to unity, integrity, faith, resilience, and national cohesion throughout his years in public office.

Furthermore, he noted that the gathering would provide an opportunity to reflect on the values Buhari promoted during his administration.

Tinubu to Present Buhari Tribute Book

Mustapha announced that President Tinubu will publicly present a book titled Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari as the Special Guest of Honour.

He explained that the publication compiles condolence messages and tributes from heads of state, diplomats, political leaders, and prominent personalities across the world.

According to him, the collection portrays Buhari as a leader remembered for simplicity, humility, resilience, and integrity.

Mustapha also clarified that the publication is not for sale. Instead, organisers will distribute copies free of charge.

Media Asked to Support Memorial Activities

Meanwhile, Mustapha appealed to media organisations to publicise the memorial activities across the country.

He encouraged Nigerians to participate by offering prayers for Buhari in their churches, mosques, and other places of worship.

He expressed hope that the nationwide prayers would strengthen national unity and provide comfort to Buhari’s family, friends, and admirers.

Buhari Remembered One Year After His Death

Former President Muhammadu Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, died on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82.

Mustapha said people across Nigeria and the international community have continued to honour Buhari’s life and legacy. He added that many still remember him for his humility, dedication to public service, and enduring commitment to the nation.
