President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured a decisive victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election held in Plateau State on Saturday, defeating challenger Tunde Osifo by polling 242,023 votes against 303 votes. Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, who served as Returning Officer, announced the results in Jos after vote collation from all 17 Local Government Areas. Thousands of party members participated peacefully and endorsed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
Massive Turnout Marks APC Primary in Plateau
Supporters gathered early across designated voting centres in Plateau State and participated actively throughout the exercise. Many waved voting slips, sang solidarity songs, and openly declared support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
At the Federal Government College in Jos, which served as the voting centre for Jos North Local Government Area, supporters formed long queues from the early hours of the day.
Party leaders described the atmosphere as peaceful, organised, and celebratory. They also said the turnout reflected increasing confidence in Tinubu’s leadership ahead of the 2027 general election.
Tinubu Records Dominant Victory Across All 17 LGAs
Announcing the outcome on Saturday night in Jos, Governor Mutfwang confirmed that the final figures represented cumulative votes collated across Plateau’s 17 Local Government Areas.
According to the official results:
- Bola Ahmed Tinubu — 242,023 votes
- Tunde Osifo — 303 votes
Mutfwang declared Tinubu the winner after completing the collation process.
“By the powers vested in me as the Returning Officer for the APC presidential primary election in Plateau State, I hereby certify this as the official summary of votes collated from the 17 Local Government Areas.”
Governor Commends Peaceful Conduct
Governor Mutfwang praised APC members for maintaining order during the election process.
He described the exercise as transparent and credible. He further stated that the process demonstrated democratic maturity among party supporters in the state.
Additionally, he commended party faithful for their discipline, unity, and strong participation throughout the primary.
APC Signals Early Momentum Ahead of 2027
The outcome positions President Tinubu as the party’s preferred presidential candidate in Plateau State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Party stakeholders expressed confidence that the strong showing during the primary would strengthen APC’s mobilisation efforts in the coming election cycle.
