Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has confirmed he is open to joining any club after mutually terminating his contract with South African side Chippa United, a decision taken recently as he looks to secure the right sporting project for the next phase of his career.
The 29-year-old’s exit brings an end to a four-year spell with Chippa United, a period that proved pivotal to his rise on the continental stage. Nwabali’s profile grew significantly following his impressive performances for Nigeria at the AFCON 2023 and the 2025 tournament, where his penalty-saving heroics cemented his status as one of the country’s leading goalkeepers.
Despite his increased reputation, the shot-stopper revealed that he is yet to receive a concrete offer since becoming a free agent. Speaking on Sports Nights Amplified with Andile Ncube, Nwabali stressed that he is not in a rush to decide his future.
“I can play anywhere I want to play; there is no restriction,” he said. “I am open to any club, local or international. Football deals with happiness, and my happiness comes first.”
Nwabali has been linked with several clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa, Raja Club Athletic of Morocco, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ettifaq, a possible move to the Rwandan league, and English Championship side Queens Park Rangers, which would represent his first venture into European football.
However, the goalkeeper dismissed suggestions of advanced negotiations, clarifying that no formal discussions have taken place.
“There are no calls yet. The only calls are from my family and friends and people who are shocked at the news,” he added.
