Fire Outbreak at Singer Market in Kano Destroys N5bn Goods, Seven Missing

A devastating fire outbreak has destroyed properties worth over N5 billion at Singer Market in Kano State.
The incident affected more than 1,000 businesses and left seven persons missing.
The fire reportedly occurred in the early hours of Sunday at the popular commercial hub.

Massive Losses Recorded at Singer Market

According to the market’s Chairman, Alhaji Junaid Zakari, the inferno is one of the worst tragedies recorded.
He disclosed this while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano.

Furthermore, four residential buildings housing small-scale businesses were completely razed.
As a result, goods, equipment, and valuables were burnt beyond recovery.
Consequently, hundreds of families have lost their primary sources of livelihood.

Seven Persons Declared Missing

Meanwhile, Zakari confirmed that seven persons were declared missing after the fire incident.
However, investigations are ongoing to determine their whereabouts.
Security agencies are also working to confirm their safety.

In addition, emergency responders have intensified efforts to uncover the cause of the fire.
Nevertheless, authorities have yet to officially determine the source of the inferno.

Traders Count Heavy Financial Losses

Several traders have continued to assess their losses following the disaster.
For instance, Alhaji Isa Abubakar said he lost goods worth over N200 million.
Similarly, Musa Ibrahim disclosed that he lost goods valued at more than N340 million.

Therefore, many affected traders described the situation as heartbreaking and overwhelming.

Gov. Abba Yusuf Visits Scene

However, the traders commended Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, for visiting the scene.
According to them, his swift response showed concern and solidarity.

Moreover, Zakari emphasized the urgent need for government and private support.
He stressed that affected traders require assistance to rebuild their businesses.

Overall, the Singer Market fire has left lasting economic and emotional impacts on Kano’s business community.
