Troops of the Operation Hadin Kai intercepted three suspected members of Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) on Monday morning along the Magumeri–Gubio road in Borno State. The soldiers stopped a Toyota pick-up truck at about 8:30 a.m., recovered terrorist uniform materials and weapons, and confirmed the operation on Tuesday through a military source.
How the Interception Happened
Troops of the Joint Task Force North East carried out the operation during a routine patrol.
They flagged down a Toyota pick-up truck moving suspiciously along the Magumeri–Gubio axis.
After a thorough search, the soldiers discovered three suspected terrorists inside the vehicle.
A military officer, who declined to speak on record, confirmed the development.
Items Recovered from the Suspects
Security forces recovered several items linked to terrorist activities.
These include:
- Large textile fabrics used for terrorist uniforms
- 20 Hilux tyre tubes
- Motorcycle and bicycle spare parts
- Several cutlasses
- Three concealed mobile phones
- Multiple vehicle tyres
According to the source, the suspects hid the mobile phones under wooden planks.
Security experts say terrorists often wear coordinated uniforms during attacks for easy identification.
Why the Seizure Matters
The interception disrupts logistics networks that support terrorist operations in the North East.
Uniform materials help insurgents identify members during coordinated assaults.
Therefore, the seizure weakens their operational structure.
In addition, the recovery of spare parts and communication devices limits their mobility and coordination.
Military Reaffirms Commitment
The Joint Task Force North East continues aggressive patrols across Borno communities.
Operation Hadin Kai remains focused on dismantling terrorist cells and supply routes.
Security forces have intensified surveillance along major roads to prevent further infiltration.
Residents have also been urged to report suspicious movements promptly.
