Sanwo-Olu Inspects Multi-Agency Complex and LAGIS Centre in Lagos

Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday inspected the ongoing construction of the Multi-Agency Complex Office and the LAGIS Centre at the Secretariat in Alausa. The inspection took place in Ikeja as part of efforts to review project progress.

The governor said the facilities will be completed by September 2026. He explained that the projects aim to reduce government spending on rented offices. They will also centralize several state agencies within the Secretariat area.

Multi-Agency Complex Designed for Modern Public Service

The Multi-Agency Complex sits on a 2.01-hectare site within the Secretariat. The project includes three office blocks—A, B, and C.

Block B rises eight floors, while Blocks A and C each have five floors. In addition, the penthouse floors will host conference facilities.

The first two floors of each block provide parking space. Meanwhile, the upper floors will accommodate office operations for government agencies.

Sanwo-Olu expressed satisfaction with the construction progress.

“The multi-agency office complex is practically completed. Only finishing touches, setbacks, and landscaping remain,” he said.

He added that contractors have performed well. According to him, workers will complete the final cleanup within a few weeks.

LAGIS Centre to Strengthen Land Administration

The governor also inspected the new Lagos Geographical Information System Centre. The facility will support land administration and digital mapping services in the state.

“This is a unique building supporting interspatial and GIS deliverables,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He explained that the centre forms part of the government’s broader strategy to improve land management systems. The governor expects the facility to be ready within two to three weeks.

Modern Facilities to Improve Civil Service Operations

The complex will offer several modern amenities for civil servants and visitors. These include elevators, reception lobbies, and conference rooms.

The buildings will also feature central air conditioning, kitchens, and canteens. Furthermore, a fully equipped generator house will ensure constant power supply.

Outside, landscaped surroundings and paved drains will enhance the environment. The project will also provide parking space for more than 700 vehicles.

Drive to Reduce Governance Costs

Sanwo-Olu said the state government remains focused on lowering the cost of governance. He noted that many government agencies currently operate from rented buildings across the state.

By relocating them to the Secretariat, the government will reduce rental expenses. At the same time, agencies will collaborate more easily in a shared environment.

The governor also emphasized the importance of providing civil servants with quality workspaces. He said improved office infrastructure will support efficient public service delivery.

Possible Presidential Visit to Showcase Projects

Sanwo-Olu revealed that the state expects a presidential visit soon. During the visit, officials may showcase the Multi-Agency Complex and the LAGIS Centre as key achievements of the administration.

According to the governor, the projects reflect Lagos State’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure and improved governance.
