NNPC Denies Sale of Refinery Scrap, Warns Public Against Fraudsters

By Elizabeth Ugbo

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has denied claims that it is selling refinery scrap materials. On Friday in Abuja, the company said reports circulating online are false. It clarified that it has not approved any sale, bids, or tenders. The statement addressed the public, businesses, and stakeholders, urging caution. It explained that fraudsters are spreading misleading information to scam unsuspecting individuals.

NNPC Dismisses Scrap Sale Claims

NNPC firmly rejected reports about selling scrap metals or refinery equipment. The company described the claims as misleading and untrue.

According to the statement titled “Fraudulent Claims on Sale of Refinery Scrap and Equipment,” NNPC has not initiated any such process. It has also not issued bids, tenders, or expressions of interest.

Warning Against Impersonators

NNPC raised concerns about individuals posing as its agents. These impostors claim to facilitate the sale of refinery materials.

However, the company stressed that it did not authorise any person or group. It warned the public to avoid engaging with such actors.

“These individuals are not authorised and aim to mislead the public,” the statement said.

Only Official Channels Are Valid

NNPC explained that it follows strict procedures for asset disposal. Any legitimate sale will follow transparent and regulated processes.

Moreover, the company will always communicate such actions through official channels. This ensures accountability and public trust.

Public Urged to Report Fraud

NNPC advised citizens and organisations to stay alert. It urged anyone who encounters such claims to report them to law enforcement agencies.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and responsible management of national energy assets.
