Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting families of fallen military personnel. He made the pledge on Wednesday during a meeting with Hassan Braimah, brother of the late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja. The visit followed the officer’s death in active service at Benisheikh on April 9, 2026.
According to a statement issued by Leah Katung-Babatunde, Special Assistant on Media to the minister, the Armed Forces will continue to provide assistance to the families of personnel who died defending the nation.
Late Brigadier General Braimah Honoured for Sacrifice
Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah served as a distinguished Infantry Officer in the Nigerian Army. He died while carrying out military duties in Benisheikh, a community affected by insurgency operations in northeastern Nigeria.
During the meeting, the Defence Minister acknowledged the officer’s sacrifice and praised his dedication to national security. He also stressed that the government remains committed to preserving the legacy of fallen heroes.
Ministry Vows to Uphold Military Legacy
Furthermore, the visit highlighted the nation’s appreciation for members of the Armed Forces who lost their lives in service. The Ministry of Defence noted that supporting bereaved families remains a top priority.
The minister assured the Braimah family that the Armed Forces and the Federal Government would continue to stand by them during this difficult period.
