Eid-el-Kabir: Tinubu Calls for Tolerance, Generosity and National Unity Among Nigerians

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace tolerance, generosity and peaceful coexistence during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. He made the call on Wednesday after observing the congregational prayers at Dodan Barracks in Lagos. The President encouraged citizens to reject ethnic division and hatred while promoting unity, compassion and respect for the rule of law across the country.

Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Embrace the Lessons of Eid-el-Kabir

Speaking after the prayers, President Tinubu described Eid-el-Kabir as a season that reflects obedience, sacrifice, love for humanity and complete submission to the will of Allah.

According to him, Nigerians should draw inspiration from the values demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and strengthen relationships through kindness and generosity.

“We thank Almighty Allah for making us witness another year of Eid-el-Kabir. We must learn from the lessons of this season by showing love to one another and promoting unity,” the President stated.

He also urged Nigerians to avoid discrimination based on ethnicity, religion or political differences.

Top Government Officials Join Eid Prayers in Lagos

The President attended the prayers alongside Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Obafemi Hamzat, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Rilwan Akiolu, Femi Gbajabiamila and Nuhu Ribadu, among other dignitaries.

The gathering highlighted the importance of unity and collective responsibility during the religious celebration.

Nigeria’s Diversity Must Remain a Source of Strength

President Tinubu stressed that Nigeria’s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths. He said no ethnic, religious or political difference should overshadow the nation’s shared goal of peace, progress and development.

Furthermore, he encouraged Nigerians to support vulnerable groups and value human life.

Addressing insecurity, the President stated that no religious teaching supports violence or banditry.

“Nowhere in the holy teachings does it say you should engage in banditry or take a human life,” he said.

He explained that the story of sacrifice teaches respect for human life and compassion toward others.

Chief Imam Calls for Faith, Sacrifice and Unity

In his sermon, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla encouraged Muslims to remain devoted to Allah and uphold values of sacrifice, generosity and national unity.

He also prayed for continued wisdom and good health for the President while acknowledging the efforts of past Nigerian leaders in building national cohesion.
