Trump Announces Sunday Peace Deal, Says Strait of Hormuz Will Reopen Immediately

By Elizabeth Ugbo

United States President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that negotiators will sign a Middle East peace agreement on Sunday. He said the deal aims to end the ongoing conflict with Iran, reopen the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping immediately, and secure Iran’s enriched uranium. Trump made the announcement through his Truth Social platform, expressing confidence that the agreement would promote regional stability while warning of consequences if Iran fails to comply.

Trump Confirms Planned Peace Agreement

Trump described the proposed agreement as a major step toward ending tensions in the Middle East. According to him, the Strait of Hormuz will reopen to global shipping as soon as both sides sign the deal.

“The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s busiest oil shipping routes. Therefore, its reopening could ease concerns in global energy markets and improve international trade.

US Plans to Destroy Iran’s Enriched Uranium

Trump also revealed plans to remove and destroy Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium after the agreement takes effect.

He said the material would be recovered from deeply buried nuclear facilities.

“At the appropriate time, when all is calm, we will go in and get the Nuclear Dust… and destroy it, whether in Iran, or the United States,” Trump stated.

He praised the US military’s B-2 bomber crews for their role in previous operations. Additionally, he expressed hope for stronger relations with Iran and the wider Middle East.

“We look forward to working with Iran, and the entire Middle East, long into the future.”

Trump Warns of Alternative Action

Despite his optimism, Trump warned that the United States could take stronger action if the agreement fails.

“Hopefully, this process will all work out quickly, easily, and smoothly. If it doesn’t, we have the ultimate alternative, hopefully never to be used again!”

His comments suggest Washington remains prepared to respond if negotiations collapse.

Iran Maintains Its Position

Meanwhile, Iran continues to insist that it has the right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.

However, Iranian officials questioned Trump’s timeline for the agreement.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the memorandum of understanding would not be signed on Sunday.

“We will have to wait and see about the exact date of the signing of the memorandum of understanding, although it will not be tomorrow.”

He added that both sides could still reach an agreement within the coming days.

Conflicting Signals Raise Questions

Trump has repeatedly expressed confidence that a breakthrough was imminent during the negotiations. Reports indicate he has predicted an agreement nearly 40 times before later issuing new threats against Iran.

The conflicting statements from Washington and Tehran now raise uncertainty over when the agreement will become official.

Even so, markets and global leaders continue to monitor developments closely because the outcome could affect regional security and international energy supplies.
