Former Adamawa State Governor, Senator Muhammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow, has rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections. Bindow formally re-registered at his ward in Mubi, Adamawa State, on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after consultations with political associates and talks with President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. His return aims to strengthen the APC and support its candidates across the state.
Bindow Re-Registers as APC Member in Mubi
Bindow completed his re-registration at his ward in Mubi, the commercial hub of Adamawa State. The Mubi Ward APC Chairman, Alhaji Ahmadu Guruja, witnessed the exercise.
His supporters, friends, family members and political associates also attended the event. They gathered to welcome the former governor back to the ruling party.
Former Governor Endorses APC Candidates
Following his return, Bindow urged voters to support President Bola Tinubu. He also endorsed Ahmad Tijjani Galadima for Adamawa State governor.
In addition, he backed all APC candidates contesting future elections. He pledged to work actively for the party’s success.
Bindow said his return does not reflect personal ambition or political division. Instead, he said he wants to strengthen the party and help it secure victory.
“I am back to the APC not to divide, but to contribute; not to fight, but to build.”
He added that he wants to work with the party and its candidates toward electoral success.
Bindow Explains Decision to Return
The former governor said his decision followed extensive consultations with political associates and confidants. He also said the move reflects his long-standing political principles.
According to Bindow, several former colleagues and political aides urged him to return. His supporters and associates also made similar appeals.
Meanwhile, he disclosed that he consulted Vice President Kashim Shettima before making the decision. He described Shettima as both a brother and a confidant.
Bindow also recalled his recent meeting with President Tinubu. He described the meeting as pleasant and memorable.
According to him, Tinubu expressed happiness about his decision to return to the APC.
Bindow’s Previous Political Move
Bindow had sought another term as Adamawa State governor before leaving the APC. He later withdrew from the governorship race on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform in May 2026.
However, his latest move marks a return to the ruling party. It also comes as political realignments continue ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bindow maintained that he has always respected party discipline. He said he avoided actions that could suggest anti-party activities.
APC Eyes Stronger Position in Adamawa
Bindow’s return could strengthen the APC’s political structure in Adamawa State. His political experience and network could also benefit the party ahead of 2027.
Furthermore, his endorsement of APC candidates could influence political alignments across the state. The development comes amid growing defections and realignments nationwide.
