The All Progressives Congress on Friday disqualified four loyalists of Siminalayi Fubara from the House of Representatives primaries scheduled for May 16, 2026, in Port Harcourt. The party released the final list through Rivers APC Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, and directed aspirants to comply with the decision ahead of the election.
APC Releases Final List Of Aspirants
The statement, titled “Final List of Aspirants for the House of Representatives Primary Election for Saturday, 16th May, 2026,” confirmed that the APC national leadership approved the list.
According to Ikenga, the party expects all aspirants to obey the guidelines for the primary election.
He said, “You are by this notice informed of the release of the final list of aspirants for the House of Representatives primary election of our great party — the APC — scheduled for 16th May, 2026.”
He also urged aspirants to comply with the party’s directive ahead of the exercise.
Fubara Loyalists Disqualified
Among those disqualified are serving members of the House of Representatives, Awaji-Inombek Abiante and Boma Goodhead.
The party also disqualified retired Air Commodore John Opera and Anderson Igbiki.
Abiante remains one of the prominent Rivers politicians who supported Governor Fubara during the last governorship election cycle.
Amaewhule, 20 Others Cleared
Meanwhile, the APC cleared 21 aspirants to contest the primaries.
Among them is Martin Amaewhule, who is contesting for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency seat.
Amaewhule seeks to replace Kingsley Chinda in the Green Chamber.
The development has intensified political tension within Rivers APC ahead of the primaries.
Political Implications Ahead Of Primaries
The disqualification of key Fubara loyalists may reshape the APC contest in Rivers State.
Political observers believe the move could deepen divisions within the party before the general elections.
However, party leaders insist the process followed internal guidelines approved by the national leadership.
