Edo State Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa on Sunday urged residents to embrace unity, cooperation and shared responsibility to support Governor Monday Okpebholo’s development agenda. He made the appeal during a thanksgiving service for the late mother of the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Jerry Uwangue, stressing that sustainable development depends on strong collaboration between the government and citizens.

Idahosa Calls for Collective Responsibility

A statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, said the deputy governor encouraged Edo residents to support the policies and programmes of the current administration.

According to Idahosa, meaningful development flourishes when citizens actively participate in governance and work with the government.

He explained that unity and mutual trust remain essential for delivering lasting progress across the state.

“Constructive engagement and collective responsibility, rather than unproductive criticism, are vital to achieving lasting progress. Every resident has a role to play in building a stronger and more prosperous Edo State,” he said.

He further appealed to residents to unite behind Governor Okpebholo’s vision for Edo State.

Government Reaffirms Commitment to Development

Idahosa reaffirmed the commitment of the Governor Monday Okpebholo administration to implementing people-centred policies.

He said the government would continue to execute impactful projects that improve the welfare and living standards of residents.

Furthermore, he urged citizens to remain steadfast in supporting government initiatives while praying for lasting peace, stability and sustainable development across Edo State.

Thanksgiving Service Honours Late Matriarch

The thanksgiving service attracted government officials, political leaders, clerics, family members, friends and other well-wishers.

The gathering celebrated the life and legacy of the late mother of Commissioner Jerry Uwangue.

Idahosa praised the Uwangue family for organising the thanksgiving service in honour of their late matriarch.

He described the event as a fitting tribute to a woman known for her faith, sacrifice and selfless service.

The deputy governor added that such occasions inspire people to reflect on enduring values, including love, compassion, unity and peaceful coexistence.

Clerics Offer Prayers for Edo State

During the service, clerics offered special prayers for the bereaved family, the Edo State Government and residents.

They prayed for enduring peace, unity and prosperity across the state while encouraging citizens to remain hopeful about Edo’s future.
