The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has announced a temporary traffic delay on Airport Road in Abuja on Thursday as dignitaries gather for the official commissioning of the remodelled Abuja City Gate. The advisory affects motorists travelling into and out of the city centre. The FCTA issued the notice to help road users plan their journeys and reduce congestion around the event venue.
Traffic Expected Around City Gate
According to the FCTA, the official commissioning will take place at the Abuja City Gate, located near the Stadium along Airport Road.
As guests and dignitaries arrive for the ceremony, traffic will move in a staggered manner. Both inbound and outbound vehicles may experience brief delays because of the increased number of vehicles heading to the venue.
Motorists Advised to Use Alternative Routes
The administration urged motorists to adjust their travel plans and avoid the City Gate corridor during the event.
Road users should use alternative link roads where possible to minimise travel time and ease congestion.
Traffic Officials to Manage Vehicle Movement
The FCTA stated that traffic management and security personnel will deploy to strategic locations from 4:30 p.m.
The officials will direct traffic and maintain smooth vehicle movement throughout the commissioning exercise.
The administration also thanked residents and motorists for their understanding and cooperation during the event.
