The Federal Government on Tuesday in Abuja inaugurated the governing boards of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA), the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA), and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) as part of efforts to strengthen industrial reforms, enhance export competitiveness, and improve regulatory efficiency under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, said the move was aimed at accelerating industrialisation, boosting non-oil exports, and ensuring more effective oversight of Nigeria’s industrial and export zones.
The Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, described the inauguration as a critical step toward improving governance, accountability, and performance across the country’s industrial institutions. He stressed that strong leadership at the board level was essential for delivering tangible economic results.
In their remarks, the newly appointed board chairpersons pledged to provide effective leadership, uphold transparency, and work toward achieving measurable outcomes that would support economic growth and job creation.
In a related development, the ministry held engagements with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to deeper public–private sector collaboration. The discussions focused on attracting investment, enhancing trade, and driving sustainable economic growth, including preparations for Nigeria’s hosting of the Intra-African Trade Fair in 2027.
