However, during the operation, ASP Usman shot and killed Mene Ogidi. The action triggered public outrage and widespread criticism online.

Disciplinary Findings

Following the incident, the Force Disciplinary Committee reviewed the case. The panel found that the officer breached Force Order 237.

Furthermore, he directed that all dismissed officers face criminal prosecution. Authorities will charge them with unlawful homicide in court.

Police Reaffirm Commitment to Accountability

During an emergency press briefing in Abuja, the IGP stressed accountability. He stated that no officer has the right to take a life unlawfully.

He also emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force maintains zero tolerance for abuse of power.

In addition, he assured the public that justice will be served transparently. This approach aims to restore public trust in law enforcement.

Condolence Message to Family

The IGP expressed deep condolences to the family of Mene Ogidi. He acknowledged their pain and promised that the case will receive full attention.

Moreover, he urged citizens to remain calm and law-abiding as the process continues.
