Iran Warns of Stronger Retaliation as Israel Intensifies Lebanon Offensive, Dozens Killed

By Elizabeth Ugbo

Iran accused the United States of violating the ceasefire this week after reported strikes hit southern Iran, while Israel expanded military operations across southern Lebanon on Tuesday, killing at least 31 people and injuring 40 others, according to reports. Iranian officials said the attacks disrupted diplomatic efforts to ease tensions, and authorities also announced initial steps to restore full internet access after weeks of restrictions during the conflict.

Iran Condemns Alleged US Ceasefire Violations

Iranian officials strongly criticised what they called blatant violations of the ceasefire agreement following reported US military strikes in southern Iran earlier this week.

According to Tehran, the attacks undermined diplomatic engagements designed to reduce tensions and improve regional stability.

A senior spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces warned that any renewed military action involving the United States and Israel would face a stronger response. The official added that future retaliation could extend beyond the Middle East.

The warning was reported by Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency.

Tehran Begins Steps to Restore Internet Access

Meanwhile, Iranian Vice-President Mohammad Reza Aref announced that the government had taken the first step toward restoring nationwide internet access.

Authorities had introduced internet restrictions and shutdowns during the height of the escalating crisis.

The move signals an attempt to return communication services to normal as tensions remain high.

Israeli Attacks Intensify Across Southern Lebanon

At least 31 people died and 40 others sustained injuries after Israeli forces launched intensified attacks across southern Lebanon on Tuesday, according to Al Jazeera.

Israeli military operations targeted several towns and villages as ground activities expanded near the border.

In addition, Israeli authorities issued dozens of displacement orders covering parts of southern and eastern Lebanon.

Civilian Displacement Raises Regional Concerns

Residents described widespread panic as families fled bombardments and moved toward safer areas.

Reports indicated that Israeli ground troops advanced deeper into Lebanese territory, increasing pressure on local communities.

As a result, concerns continue to grow over the possibility of a wider regional conflict driven by escalating cross-border tensions.
