The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed that all passengers aboard a privately operated aircraft are safe after the plane made an emergency landing near Asaba, Delta State, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. The incident occurred during a landing attempt at Asaba Airport when the aircraft conducted a missed approach and later landed on a roadway in the Ogwashi-Uku area. According to the NCAA, everyone on board exited safely and traveled to Asaba by road.

Aircraft Lands on Roadway After Missed Approach

In a preliminary report, the NCAA said the aircraft attempted to land at Asaba Airport at about 7:43 a.m. local time.

However, the crew carried out a missed approach during the landing attempt. The aircraft subsequently landed on a roadway in Ogwashi-Uku, near Asaba.

Fortunately, all occupants evacuated safely. They later continued their journey to Asaba by road.

NCAA Faults Operator Over Reporting Breach

Meanwhile, the NCAA said the aircraft operator violated the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs).

According to the authority, the operator failed to report the incident immediately as required by aviation regulations.

The NCAA stressed that timely reporting remains critical for safety oversight and incident management.

Aircraft Grounded Pending Investigation

Following the incident, the aircraft flew to Lagos.

Upon its arrival, the NCAA immediately grounded the aircraft.

In addition, the authority placed the flight crew under regulatory review. The review will continue while investigators determine the circumstances surrounding the emergency landing.

The NCAA is also examining the aircraft’s unauthorized departure after the incident.

NCAA Assures Public of Aviation Safety Oversight

The aviation regulator assured the public that it is taking appropriate steps to investigate the occurrence.

Furthermore, the authority reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing safety regulations and maintaining high operational standards across Nigeria’s aviation sector.
