Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in a late-night operation. The victims, including the younger sister of former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, regained freedom after kidnappers abducted them on June 3 while they were travelling to school. The rescue took place following intelligence-led tracking and a gun battle with the suspects in an undisclosed location.
Police Rescue Victims During Tactical Operation
Police operatives launched a coordinated rescue mission after days of intelligence gathering and surveillance.
The operation reached a climax at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday when officers confronted the kidnappers.
During the exchange of gunfire, operatives neutralised two suspected kidnappers. They also recovered two firearms from the criminals.
Authorities confirmed that Mrs. John-Paul and her twin sons emerged from the operation unharmed.
Victims Were Abducted While Heading to School
The kidnappers seized the victims at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026.
Mrs. John-Paul was driving her children to school when the attackers intercepted them and whisked them away.
The incident triggered an immediate security response as police intensified efforts to locate and rescue the family.
Intelligence Tracking Led to Successful Rescue
According to police sources, sustained intelligence tracking placed significant pressure on the kidnappers.
As a result, the suspects attempted to evade security operatives. However, police teams closed in on their location.
The confrontation eventually forced the gang into a gun duel with officers, leading to the successful rescue.
Manhunt Continues for Escaping Gang Members
Meanwhile, security operatives have expanded search operations in nearby communities.
Investigators believe several members of the kidnapping syndicate escaped during the confrontation.
Authorities suspect some of the fleeing criminals sustained gunshot wounds.
Police teams are currently tracking the suspects and have vowed to dismantle the entire network.
