By Elizabeth Ugbo

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday approved a Federal Executive Council reshuffle in Abuja, removing Wale Edun and Ahmed Dangiwa, and appointing Taiwo Oyedele and Muttaqha Darma to strengthen economic coordination and governance delivery.

Key Changes in the Cabinet

The government replaced two senior ministers to improve policy execution.

Taiwo Oyedele now serves as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
Meanwhile, Muttaqha Darma becomes Minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development.

Officials expect these appointments to boost economic management and housing reforms.

Directive on Handover Process

The government instructed outgoing ministers to complete all handover processes immediately.

According to George Akume, all transitions must finish before the close of business on April 23, 2026.

This timeline ensures continuity and avoids disruptions in governance.

Government’s Justification for the Reshuffle

The administration linked the changes to its Renewed Hope Agenda.

George Akume stated that the reshuffle will strengthen cohesion and improve policy delivery.
He added that the President acted within constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148.

As a result, the government aims to deliver stronger economic outcomes for Nigerians.

Background on the Appointments

Taiwo Oyedele previously served as Minister of State for Finance in March 2026.
In contrast, Wale Edun joined the cabinet in August 2023.

The Presidency also confirmed that cabinet restructuring will continue when necessary.

Appreciation for Outgoing Ministers

The government thanked Wale Edun and Ahmed Dangiwa for their service.

Officials wished them success in their future endeavors.
