President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas as the new Director General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA). The President also appointed Patrick Obahiagbon as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial, of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) and reappointed Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director, Corporate Services. The appointments, announced on Saturday, followed the resignation of two officials who left to pursue political ambitions.
Namdas Takes Over as BCDA Director General
Namdas succeeds Dr Dakorinama Alabo George, who resigned to contest an elective position in his home state.
The new BCDA Director General previously represented Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo Federal Constituency of Adamawa State in the House of Representatives. During the 8th Assembly, he served as the House spokesperson.
In addition, Namdas contested in the recent Adamawa governorship primary election.
Before joining politics, he built a successful career in journalism and public relations. He also served as Chief Press Secretary to former Adamawa State Governor Boni Haruna.
Obahiagbon Appointed NDPHC Executive Director
President Tinubu also appointed Patrick Obahiagbon as Executive Director, Strategy and Commercial, of the NDPHC.
Obahiagbon replaces Engineer Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, who resigned to pursue his political ambition in Edo State.
He previously served in both the Edo State House of Assembly and the National Assembly.
Umeoji Reappointed to NDPHC Board
The President reappointed Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director, Corporate Services, of the NDPHC.
Umeoji represented Aguata Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the 9th House of Representatives.
He had resigned from the NDPHC board to pursue his political ambition in Anambra State. However, President Tinubu has now returned him to the position.
Tinubu Strengthens Leadership in Key Agencies
The appointments form part of the Tinubu administration’s efforts to strengthen leadership in strategic government agencies.
The changes also ensure continuity at the BCDA and the NDPHC following the resignation of former officeholders who joined political contests.
