Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday visited the Shehu of Borno, HRH Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, in Maiduguri before departing for Lagos. The Vice President paid the Sallah homage ahead of a scheduled meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Governors from the 36 states accompanied him to the President’s Lagos residence. The visit highlighted Shettima’s respect for the traditional institution and reinforced cultural ties in Northern Nigeria.
Shettima Honours Traditional Institution
Before leaving for Lagos, Shettima took time to visit the palace of the Shehu of Borno. The Vice President exchanged greetings with the revered monarch during the Sallah celebration.
The visit reflected Shettima’s long-standing relationship with the traditional ruler. It also showed his commitment to preserving cultural values and strengthening unity.
Governors Join VP for Presidential Homage
After the palace visit, Shettima travelled to Lagos with governors from across Nigeria. The delegation joined President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the traditional Sallah homage at his residence.
The annual gathering remains an important national event. It promotes unity among political leaders and strengthens ties during the Eid celebrations.
