The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has warned hotel owners, event centre operators, and managers of public facilities in Abuja against allowing illegal organisations to use their properties. The warning came on Friday through a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, spokesperson to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. The administration said authorities will monitor facilities closely to improve security, maintain public peace, and prevent unlawful gatherings across the Federal Capital Territory.
FCTA Tightens Security Measures
According to the statement, the administration wants to strengthen security operations within the FCT. As a result, officials will now monitor hotels, event centres, and other public buildings more closely.
The FCTA stressed that land allocations within the territory are strictly for lawful activities. Therefore, property owners must ensure organisations using their facilities operate legally.
The administration also warned that authorities will revoke title documents of properties linked to illegal gatherings.
Hotels and Event Centres Must Verify Organisations
Furthermore, the FCTA directed facility owners to verify groups seeking to rent their spaces before approving bookings.
The statement advised operators to examine both the legality of organisations and the purpose of their events. Officials believe this step will help prevent activities capable of disrupting peace in the nation’s capital.
Political Parties Must Use Recognised Leadership
The administration also addressed political activities ahead of upcoming elections.
According to the statement, event centre and hotel owners must only deal with leadership recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) when handling political bookings.
In addition, operators must maintain proper records of all transactions involving political parties and organisations.
FCTA Warns of Land Title Revocation
The FCTA maintained that failure to comply with the directive will attract severe sanctions.
Authorities warned that any hotel, event centre, or public building used by illegal organisations risks losing its land title documents.
The administration urged property owners to cooperate fully with security agencies to protect lives and property in Abuja.
