US President Donald Trump has deleted an AI-generated image from Truth Social after widespread backlash erupted on Monday in the United States, where the post showed him as a Jesus-like figure healing a sick man, prompting criticism from political allies, religious leaders, and media voices over its perceived insensitivity.
Trump Faces Intense Criticism Over AI Post
The controversial image quickly sparked outrage across the political spectrum. It depicted Trump in a white robe placing a glowing hand on a sick man’s forehead.
Observers noted that the scene closely resembled traditional artistic portrayals of Jesus Christ healing the sick. As a result, critics described the post as inappropriate.
Allies and Religious Voices Condemn the Image
Criticism came not only from opponents but also from Trump’s supporters. Christian activist Sean Feucht called for the image to be removed immediately.
Similarly, conservative commentator Riley Gaines warned that religious symbols should not be mocked.
In addition, journalist David Brody said the post crossed a line. He stressed that supporters can back Trump while rejecting such content.
Trump Defends Intent Behind the Image
Despite deleting the post, Trump defended its meaning. He explained that he saw the image as portraying him as a doctor.
According to him, the intention focused on healing rather than religion. However, critics remained unconvinced due to the visual similarities.
Controversy Deepens After Pope Criticism
The post appeared shortly after Trump criticized Pope Leo XIV. He described the pope as weak on crime and foreign policy.
Meanwhile, Pope Leo has openly opposed US and Israeli military actions in Iran. He also condemned the conflict, calling it “absurd and inhuman violence.”
Consequently, the timing of Trump’s post intensified public reaction.
Previous Social Media Controversies Resurface
This incident follows earlier controversies linked to Trump’s social media activity.
In February, a racist video targeting Barack Obama and Michelle Obama appeared on his account before removal.
Although officials blamed a staff error, critics questioned how such content was posted.
Conclusion
The deleted AI image highlights the risks of controversial digital content in politics. While Trump defended his intention, the backlash shows clear limits.
