A former senatorial candidate, Dr Anthony Ezekwugo, resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Wednesday in Abuja, Nigeria, citing political differences and immediately joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to pursue a House of Representatives bid.
Reason for Resignation
Ezekwugo addressed his resignation letter to the ADC Ward Chairman in Wuse Ward, Abuja. He announced his immediate withdrawal from all party activities.
He said the decision followed deep reflection on Nigeria’s political realities. According to him, the party no longer aligns with his values.
Furthermore, he stressed that his expectations for credible leadership and democratic progress had changed. As a result, he chose a new political path.
Appreciation to ADC
Despite leaving, Ezekwugo acknowledged the opportunities ADC offered him. He thanked the party for its platform and support.
He stated clearly:
“Kindly accept this letter as my official withdrawal from all activities and obligations associated with the party.”
Move to NDC and New Ambition
After leaving ADC, Ezekwugo joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress. He has already registered in Gwarinpa, Abuja Municipal Area Council.
His membership number is NDC-37-37281-95497511.
More importantly, he now seeks to contest the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency seat under the NDC.
Political Background
Ezekwugo previously contested under the All Progressives Grand Alliance before moving to ADC after the 2023 elections.
However, his latest move signals another shift in his political journey. It also reflects ongoing realignments within Nigeria’s political space.
Reactions from Parties
Efforts to reach ADC and NDC leaders for comments failed as of press time. Therefore, official responses remain unavailable.
