Tinubu’s Economic Reforms Necessary for Nigeria’s Recovery — Sunday Dare

By Elizabeth Ugbo

The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, on Saturday defended the Federal Government’s economic reforms during a Northern Stakeholders Town Hall meeting in Kaduna. He said the administration introduced the policies to prevent economic collapse, restore fiscal stability, improve investor confidence, and reposition Nigeria for long-term growth ahead of the 2027 elections.

News Point Nigeria reports that the event was organised by the Tinubu Door-to-Door Movement and attracted stakeholders from across Northern Nigeria. Many participants also expressed support for President Tinubu’s possible re-election bid in 2027.

Sunday Dare Says Tinubu’s Reforms Are Producing Results

Dare described President Tinubu as a courageous leader with a clear vision for Nigeria’s future.

“We have a president who, right from the beginning, rolled up his sleeves and started to work for this country. A president who is courageous, bold, and focused on moving Nigeria forward,” he stated.

According to him, reforms remain essential for national recovery and development.

“Tinubu’s reforms are working, and Nigeria is moving in the right direction,” Dare added.

He explained that policies such as fuel subsidy removal and foreign exchange reforms initially created challenges for Nigerians. However, he insisted the measures now deliver positive economic outcomes and lay foundations for sustainable development.

Dare further described President Tinubu as “the reformer in chief,” stressing that no nation can achieve economic recovery without bold reforms.

Experts Highlight Economic Impact of Federal Government Policies

Among the speakers was Solomon Gushibet, Head of the Centre for Financial Economics at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies.

Gushibet examined the long-term economic implications of the Federal Government’s reforms. He also discussed how policy continuity could strengthen national development and economic stability.

Kaduna Government Links Subsidy Removal to Increased Revenue

Representing Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, highlighted the benefits of fuel subsidy removal at the state level.

Maiyaki said the policy increased resources available to subnational governments. He also linked the gradual return of peace in troubled Kaduna communities to deliberate governance and improved security strategies introduced by the state government.

Stakeholders Back Policy Continuity Ahead of 2027 Elections

Participants at the town hall stressed the importance of sustaining government policies for long-term economic growth.

Several stakeholders openly supported President Tinubu’s re-election, arguing that policy consistency would help maintain economic reforms and national development efforts.

Organisers disclosed plans to extend similar town hall engagements to other regions before the 2027 general elections.

Tinubu Door-to-Door Movement Explains Purpose of Engagement

The National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Sunday Adekanbi, said the initiative aimed to strengthen communication between the government and citizens.

According to Adekanbi, the forum created opportunities for grassroots stakeholders to engage directly with government representatives on governance and policy implementation.

Other speakers also reviewed the Tinubu administration’s achievements in infrastructure development and social investment programmes.
