Arsenal have made a new contract for manager Mikel Arteta their top priority this summer as they prepare for the 2026/27 season. The club, led by co-chair Josh Kroenke, wants to secure Arteta’s long-term future at the Emirates Stadium. Negotiations are expected to resume after Arteta returns from holiday, with both parties aiming to reach an agreement before the new campaign begins.
The Spaniard’s current deal expires at the end of next season. However, Arsenal remain confident that discussions will lead to a successful outcome.
New Deal Could Make Arteta England’s Highest-Paid Manager
Sources close to the negotiations indicate that Arteta is set for a significant pay rise. The Arsenal boss currently earns £10 million annually, with an additional £5 million bonus for Champions League qualification.
His new contract is expected to run for at least three years. Moreover, it could make him the highest-paid manager in English football following Pep Guardiola’s departure from Manchester City.
Arsenal’s hierarchy view Arteta as central to the club’s long-term vision. Consequently, Kroenke Sports & Entertainment are prepared to invest heavily to keep him at the club.
Speaking recently, Arsenal co-chair Josh Kroenke reaffirmed the club’s commitment to the manager.
“Keeping Mikel around is an utmost priority and I think the good news for Arsenal fans worldwide is he’s enjoying the project.”
Transfer Plans Depend on Squad Reshaping
While contract talks remain a priority, Arsenal are simultaneously planning for a busy transfer window. The club must balance spending after investing around £250 million on new players last season.
Several departures could create room for new arrivals. Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, whose contract expires in 12 months.
Additionally, Christian Norgaard, Ben White, Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson could leave this summer. Jakub Kiwior has already completed a £14.7 million move to Porto.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are considering the sale of academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri after his loan spell at Marseille. Such a transfer would represent pure profit under financial regulations.
Morgan Rogers Among Arsenal’s Main Forward Targets
Arsenal have identified three key attacking targets as they seek to strengthen their forward line.
Morgan Rogers Remains Under Consideration
Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers is among the players on Arsenal’s shortlist. The England international’s versatility appeals to Arteta because he can operate centrally or on the left wing.
Although Arsenal already have Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze capable of playing in attacking midfield roles, the club values Rogers’ flexibility.
The 23-year-old is reportedly open to joining Arsenal. However, Manchester United are also monitoring his situation.
A deal for Rogers could cost more than £80 million.
Eli Junior Kroupi Attracts Interest
Bournemouth youngster Eli Junior Kroupi has also emerged as a serious target.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a remarkable debut Premier League season, scoring 13 goals and setting a record for a teenage debutant.
Arsenal view Kroupi as a long-term investment, although Bournemouth are expected to demand a fee exceeding £80 million.
Julian Alvarez Remains Dream Signing
Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez remains Arsenal’s preferred attacking target.
The Argentine international is highly regarded by the club’s recruitment team. Nevertheless, Barcelona are also pursuing the forward.
Atletico Madrid value Alvarez at more than £120 million, making any potential move financially challenging.
Arsenal Chase Leicester Wonderkid Jeremy Monga
Arsenal have also intensified their pursuit of Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga.
The 16-year-old is considered one of England’s brightest young talents and has attracted interest from several leading clubs.
Monga is believed to be open to joining Arsenal. However, any transfer could require a tribunal process due to his age.
Positive Signs Over Contract Agreement
Despite some caution within the club, early discussions over Arteta’s new contract have produced encouraging signs.
Club officials remain optimistic that an agreement will be reached. Therefore, there is growing belief inside the Emirates Stadium that the question is not whether Arteta will sign, but when.
With Arsenal continuing to challenge for major honours, securing Arteta’s future remains the foundation of their plans both on and off the pitch.
