Six Killed, Six Injured as Speeding Bus Crashes into Truck on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Six passengers lost their lives and six others sustained injuries after a commercial bus crashed into a truck making a U-turn on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State on Tuesday. The crash occurred at Car Park C, opposite the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). According to eyewitnesses and emergency responders, the Mazda bus, carrying 15 passengers, was speeding before it rammed into the truck. Rescue officials rushed the injured victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Speeding Bus Collides with Truck

An eyewitness told officials of the Ogun Traffic Enforcement Agency (TRACE) that the Mazda bus, with registration number EPE 440 YG, was travelling at high speed when it crashed into the truck.

The witness said the truck was making a U-turn when the collision occurred.

Immediately after the crash, the truck driver reportedly fled the scene.

Six Passengers Die Instantly

Five male passengers and one female passenger died on the spot due to the impact of the crash.

Six other passengers suffered varying degrees of injuries.

Emergency responders quickly rescued the injured victims and transported them to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Emergency Agencies Respond

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Police Force, and TRACE responded to the accident.

The rescue team secured the crash scene, evacuated the victims, and removed the affected vehicles to restore the free flow of traffic.

Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the crash.

Road Safety Reminder

Road safety officials have continued to urge motorists to obey speed limits and avoid dangerous driving. They also advised drivers to exercise caution, especially on highways where U-turns require extra care.
