Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Esa-Oke, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, have rejected allegations linking House of Representatives member Wole Oke to the killing of Accord Party member Ajayi Rogba. Ajayi was reportedly killed by suspected thugs on Tuesday night in Esa-Oke. Speaking at a news conference on Friday, APC leaders urged security agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation while warning against politicising the incident.
APC Rejects Political Allegations
Speaking on behalf of APC members in Esa-Oke, Prof. Siji Olamiju described attempts to implicate Oke and the party as baseless.
According to him, there is no credible evidence connecting the lawmaker or the APC to the killing.
Olamiju said politicising the tragedy would only distract investigators and deny the victim’s family justice.
“We are particularly concerned that certain individuals have hastily linked this unfortunate incident to politics without allowing the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies to conclude their investigations,” he said.
He added that exploiting the incident for political gain was insensitive to the bereaved family.
APC Calls for Independent Investigation
Olamiju urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to conduct a transparent, professional and unbiased investigation.
He insisted that anyone found responsible should face justice, regardless of political affiliation or social status.
“We firmly maintain that whoever is found culpable after a lawful and impartial investigation must face the full weight of the law,” he said.
He also appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke and other political leaders to allow security agencies to perform their constitutional duties without interference.
“We respectfully urge Governor Ademola Adeleke and all public office holders to exercise restraint and allow law enforcement agencies to discharge their constitutional responsibilities independently,” he added.
APC Distances Wole Oke from Killing
Olamiju firmly distanced Wole Oke from the incident.
He maintained that attempts to implicate the lawmaker were politically motivated and lacked factual support.
According to him, justice can only emerge through a professional investigation rather than speculation or media trials.
Adeleke Alleges APC Thugs Were Responsible
During a condolence visit to Ajayi’s family on Wednesday, Governor Ademola Adeleke alleged that thugs loyal to the APC carried out the attack.
The governor also criticised Wole Oke and urged the police to identify and prosecute those behind the killing.
However, APC members maintained that investigators should establish the facts before drawing conclusions.
They stressed that due process remains the only path to justice for the deceased and his family.
