The Federal Government has confirmed the death of 23-year-old Nigerian medical graduate, Miss Nnani Adaobi Marian, who died after sustaining injuries during a Russian aerial attack on Kharkiv, Ukraine. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the incident on Tuesday, saying the attack occurred in the eastern Ukrainian city and reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad.
Victim Graduated from Kharkiv National Medical University
According to the Ministry’s spokesperson, the late Nnani Adaobi Marian graduated from Kharkiv National Medical University before the tragic attack claimed her life.
The Ministry described her death as a painful loss for her family and the nation.
Government Extends Condolences and Offers Consular Support
The Federal Government expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.
Meanwhile, the Ministry disclosed that it is working closely with Nigerian diplomatic missions in Ukraine and Germany to verify all details surrounding the incident.
It also assured the family that the government will provide the necessary consular assistance throughout the process.
Nigeria Calls for Peaceful Resolution of Ukraine Conflict
Furthermore, the Federal Government renewed its call for an immediate end to hostilities in Ukraine.
The Ministry urged all parties involved in the conflict to embrace dialogue and pursue a peaceful resolution.
It reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of its citizens living and studying abroad.
Government to Continue Monitoring Situation
The Ministry added that it will continue to monitor developments in Ukraine closely.
It also pledged to provide every necessary support through Nigeria’s diplomatic missions as the situation evolves.
