Dangote Group Denies False Claims Linking Aliko Dangote to Tony Elumelu Rift and Financing Allegations

The Dangote Group has, in Nigeria and across Africa, on Monday, through its management, firmly denied recent media reports alleging that Aliko Dangote distanced himself from Tony Elumelu and financed the Dangote Petroleum Refinery through personal borrowing from friends, describing the claims as false, misleading, and damaging, while stressing that the statement was issued by Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer Anthony Chiejina to protect the company’s reputation and clarify ongoing misinformation.


Dangote Group Refutes Fabricated Allegations

The Dangote Group rejected a publication claiming a rift between Aliko Dangote and Tony Elumelu.
It described the report as completely baseless and malicious.
The company stressed that no such statement ever came from its leadership.

In addition, the Group clarified that Aliko Dangote never made comments distancing himself from Elumelu.
It reaffirmed that both business leaders maintain a long-standing cordial relationship.


Denial of Personal Borrowing Claims

The company also dismissed claims that Dangote financed the refinery through loans from friends.
It called the assertion inaccurate and a deliberate distortion of facts.

Furthermore, it stated that Aliko Dangote does not fund projects through personal borrowing arrangements.
The Group challenged those making such claims to provide verifiable evidence.

The Dangote Group raised concern over increasing fake statements linked to its President.
It highlighted the misuse of Dangote’s name, image, and likeness in AI-generated content.

According to the Group, such actions amount to reputational harm and potential fraud.
It warned individuals and platforms to stop spreading misleading materials immediately.
