Troops Raid Illegal Arms Factories in Jos, Arrest Five Suspects

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace raided two illegal arms manufacturing sites in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State on Thursday. They arrested five suspects and recovered weapons and equipment after intelligence-led surveillance to curb illegal arms production.

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have dismantled two illegal arms production sites in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. The operation led to the arrest of five suspects actively fabricating weapons on Thursday. Security operatives carried out the raid following sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance. The mission aimed to stop the spread of illegal firearms and improve public safety.

Intelligence-Led Operation Targets Arms Syndicate

According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Capt. Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, troops acted on credible human intelligence. They also conducted strategic surveillance across the Joint Operations Area. Consequently, they located the illegal workshops and moved in swiftly.

Furthermore, the Quick Response Force executed the precision operation without delay. The troops caught the suspects in the act of manufacturing lethal weapons.

Weapons and Equipment Recovered

Security forces recovered a large cache of weapons and industrial tools from the sites. Items include nine fabricated AK-47 rifles and seven skeletal AK-47 rifles. They also recovered one locally made pistol and four empty AK-47 magazines.

In addition, operatives found 10 rifle butt components and 36 empty shells of 7.62mm special ammunition. Other items include revolver cylinders, recoiling springs, and multiple fabrication tools.

Moreover, authorities seized six hand drilling machines, nine filing machines, and four welding machines. These tools supported the illegal arms production network.

Investigation and Manhunt Ongoing

The Joint Task Force confirmed that suspects remain in custody for further investigation. Meanwhile, troops continue efforts to track other members of the arms syndicate.

Additionally, security agencies pledged to intensify operations against illegal arms manufacturing across Plateau State. They emphasized collaboration with residents to report suspicious activities.

Security Forces Urge Public Vigilance

Operation Enduring Peace praised residents for supporting ongoing security operations. They also urged citizens to remain vigilant and provide timely intelligence.

Consequently, authorities believe community cooperation will help reduce criminal activity and strengthen security across the region.
