Troops of Sector 2 Operation Fansan Yamma rescued 31 kidnap victims and neutralised five terrorists during coordinated operations in Zamfara and Katsina states. The operations took place this week in several locations, including Anka, Maradun, and Matazu LGAs. Military forces carried out the missions through precision air strikes and follow-up ground assaults on terrorist hideouts. The operations targeted criminal camps, disrupted planned attacks, and enhanced security across the North-West region.
Troops Rescue 31 Kidnap Victims in Zamfara
Troops rescued 31 kidnap victims along the Bagega-Kawaye axis in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The victims regained freedom after the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma conducted a precision air interdiction. Ground troops then launched follow-up assaults on terrorist enclaves located west of Bagega Forest.
According to the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Operation Fansan Yamma, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the rescued victims had spent several weeks in captivity.
He identified the victims as indigenes of Maga, Gummi, Zuru, Wasugu, Bukuyyum, and Anka local government areas across Zamfara and Sokoto states.
“The victims received medical attention and will soon reunite with their families,” Osoba said.
Troops Destroy Terrorist Camps in Maradun
Meanwhile, troops engaged terrorists in Maradun and the Gidan Dan Jaja axis of Zamfara State.
During the operation, soldiers killed two terrorists and destroyed several terrorist camps.
Troops also recovered fabricated rifles and four motorcycles used by the criminals.
The successful operation dealt another blow to terrorist activities in the area.
Soldiers Foil Planned Terrorist Attack in Katsina

Security forces also recovered rifles and additional motorcycles during the operation.
