The Northern Governors’ Spouses’ Forum met on Thursday in Gusau, Zamfara State, where they agreed to continue borehole drilling projects, reviewed progress, and planned new initiatives to improve the welfare of women, children, and vulnerable groups across Northern Nigeria.
Forum Reviews Progress and Sets Direction
During the quarterly meeting, chaired by Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, members assessed ongoing activities and discussed future strategies. The gathering brought together spouses of governors from across the northern states, creating a platform for collaboration and shared goals.
Moreover, the forum focused on practical solutions to pressing regional challenges. Members emphasized unity and a collective approach to development.
Commitment to Borehole Projects
The forum resolved to sustain borehole drilling projects in every state. This decision aims to tackle water scarcity, especially in rural communities.
According to the communiqué, members believe access to clean water remains critical for improving public health and livelihoods. Therefore, they pledged to strengthen efforts in this area.
New Initiative Planned for 2026
In addition, the forum agreed to introduce a new project in 2026. Although details remain limited, the initiative will target vulnerable populations and support community development.
Furthermore, members decided to mark International Charity Day annually on September 5. This move will encourage humanitarian activities across the region.
Next Meeting Scheduled
The forum also announced plans to hold its next meeting in four months. This timeline will help maintain momentum and track progress on agreed projects.
Renewed Commitment to Regional Development
The communiqué reaffirmed members’ dedication to improving quality of life in Northern Nigeria. It highlighted their shared vision of driving positive change through collaboration.
Notably, Zamfara State First Lady, Hurriya Dauda Lawal, hosted the meeting at the Government House in Gusau. Asmau Mohammed Inuwa and Secretary Lami Fintiri signed the communiqué issued after the session.
