Former lawmaker Oghene Egoh on Sunday in Lagos commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for advancing road infrastructure and economic reforms, stating that the administration’s projects, policies, and timelines show a clear strategy to boost trade, improve mobility, and drive long-term growth across Nigeria.
Strategic Road Projects Gain Momentum
Egoh said the government is prioritising key transport corridors. He highlighted the near completion of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as a major milestone.
He also noted ongoing work on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and expansion of the Bodo-Bonny Road. According to him, these projects are improving the movement of goods and people.
Furthermore, he described the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano dual carriageway as critical for northern connectivity. He added that faster construction reflects renewed government focus.
Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to Boost Blue Economy
Egoh praised the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, calling it transformative.
He explained that the project will enhance coastal connectivity and support tourism. In addition, it will expand trade and unlock opportunities in the blue economy.
He stressed that the highway shows a long-term vision for economic prosperity.
Sokoto-Badagry Route to Strengthen National Unity
Speaking further, Egoh commended the proposed Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway.
He said the road will strengthen North-South trade routes. Moreover, it will improve agricultural logistics and promote national integration.
Durable Road Construction Approach
Egoh welcomed the adoption of reinforced concrete pavement for major highways.
He said the method will improve durability and reduce maintenance costs. As a result, it will ensure better value for public spending.
Economic Reforms Show Political Will
On policy, Egoh backed Tinubu’s reforms. He cited fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange adjustments, and infrastructure financing strategies.
He admitted the reforms bring short-term challenges. However, he argued they lay a strong foundation for long-term stability.
“Economic reform is never easy,” he said. “But strong leadership requires tough decisions.”
Call for Patience Among Nigerians
Egoh urged Nigerians to remain patient. He expressed confidence that benefits will become clearer over time.
He concluded that ongoing investments and reforms will reposition the economy for sustainable growth.
