JAMB 2026 Policy Meeting: Cut-Off Marks, Admission Guidelines to Be Decided

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will hold its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions on Monday, May 11, 2026, in Abuja. The meeting will take place at the Body of Benchers Auditorium in Jabi. JAMB officials, education stakeholders, and institutional leaders will attend. They will decide minimum UTME cut-off marks, admission guidelines, and policy directions for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Stakeholders to Attend the Meeting

JAMB confirmed that top stakeholders will participate in the meeting. These include vice-chancellors, rectors, and provosts. Registrars and admission officers from tertiary institutions will also attend.

In addition, regulatory bodies will be present. These include the National Universities Commission, the National Commission for Colleges of Education, and the National Board for Technical Education. Their presence ensures broad input in decision-making.

Minister to Unveil New Policy Directions

The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, will unveil key policy directions during the meeting. According to JAMB, these policies will guide the admission process nationwide.

Furthermore, the meeting will set the tone for the 2026/2027 admission exercise. Stakeholders will also emphasize strict compliance with admission guidelines.

Focus on UTME Cut-Off Marks and Admission Standards

The policy meeting will determine the minimum acceptable UTME scores. These scores will serve as benchmarks for admissions into tertiary institutions.

JAMB stressed that the meeting remains crucial each year. It ensures consistency, fairness, and improved standards in Nigeria’s tertiary education system.

National Tertiary Admissions Merit Awards

The event will also feature the 6th edition of the National Tertiary Admissions Performance-Merit Awards. These awards promote transparency and compliance with admission processes.

Additionally, goodwill messages will come from key organizations. These include the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the National Youth Service Corps.

Importance of the Annual Policy Meeting

JAMB described the policy meeting as a critical platform for collaboration. It allows stakeholders to review past admission processes and improve future ones.

Moreover, it reinforces adherence to established rules. This helps maintain credibility and efficiency in Nigeria’s admission system.
